A Dental Hygienist is a licensed dental health professional who provides
educational and clinical services that contribute to an individual's total well
being through the promotion of comprehensive, preventative oral health.
Hygienists examine patient's teeth and soft tissues, recording the presence of
diseases or abnormalities; take and develop dental x-rays; apply cavity
preventive agents; and teach patients how to practice good oral
hygiene.
As an Apollo College Dental Hygiene student, you will build upon a foundation of general education courses to learn a wide variety of knowledge and skills including: infection control and sterilization, preventive dentistry and nutrition, dental instrument and equipment care, dental radiography, examination of patients' teeth and gingiva, patient instruction, and much more.
