The Surgical Technician Program is designed to provide students with an academic
and clinical background in the field of surgical technology' Surgical
technicians are responsible for maintaining the sterile field of instruments
during surgery' They also may be responsible for preparing the patients for
surgery as well as maintaining vital signs, checking charts and assisting the
surgical team during surgery' The program prepares students for entry-level
positions in a number of health care facilities, including hospitals, medical
centers and public and private surgical centers'
