Description: |
Recent innovations and changes in the healthcare industry have created an increasing demand for surgical technologists, who prepare for and assist in surgical operations. A career as a surgical technologist offers the satisfaction of working with other healthcare professionals in a variety of settings (surgery suites, hospital OB wards or emergency departments, outpatient surgery centers, etc.), and the personal satisfaction of participating on a surgical team and performing important, skilled work. Our Surgical Technologist program is designed to train diligent students to use proper surgical hygiene before, during, and after surgical procedures. Students are also trained to recognize basic instrument sets; position patients with ease and knowledge; be aware of the general set-up of surgical trays and tables; and function effectively as members of the surgical team. Students in the Surgical Technologist program also receive training and certification in CPR.
