The objective of the Medical Assistant Program is to train students to acquire satisfactory skills and demonstrate competence in a variety of medical office procedures and laboratory techniques under the direct supervision of the physician. The medical procedures and lab techniques include: injections, EKG's, vital signs, urinalysis, phlebotomy, assisting in minor surgery and emergency situations. Front office: typing, transcription, word processing, patient data collection, insurance claims processing, bookkeeping, and billing and collection. Upon Satisfactory completion of the training, students will be qualified to assume entry level positions as a medical assistant performing the medical procedures, lab techniques and front office duties described above.
